  10. If anyone has found anyway of getting a CD-ROM drive to work with the SCSI
  11. interface of a Roctec SCSI/IDE hard drive "sidecar" for the A500, let me
  12. know.

  14. I have tried both one version of AmiCDROM and AsimCDFS. Both had no success,
  15. even when I tried the trackdisk option of AmiCDROM. As I understand it, the
  16. primary problem is that the RocHard does not follow the RDB standard and is
  17. not fully SCSI-direct compliant.

  19. The only reason I hold out hope is because the CDROM program included with
  20. AmiCDROM *can* access my ReNO CD-ROM drive, reading the main directory,
  21. sectors, returning ID info, etc..

  23. It seems to me that if all this info can be retrieved without a problem, a
  24. file system that works with the RocHard might also exist, or at least be
  25. possible.

  27. I would consider switching to another HD/memory subsystem, but since I have
  28. a IDE HD, that would require investing in another hard drive if I went with
  29. a SCSI-only system such as a GVP or Supra XP, and in some cases (the Supra
  30. XP or an ICD Trifecta), new memory (ZIPs vs. the SIMMs my Roctec has). Since
  31. I am planning on upgrading to an A1200 as soon as possible, this does not
  32. seem to make economic sense.
