- If anyone has found anyway of getting a CD-ROM drive to work with the SCSI
- interface of a Roctec SCSI/IDE hard drive "sidecar" for the A500, let me
- know.
-
- I have tried both one version of AmiCDROM and AsimCDFS. Both had no success,
- even when I tried the trackdisk option of AmiCDROM. As I understand it, the
- primary problem is that the RocHard does not follow the RDB standard and is
- not fully SCSI-direct compliant.
-
- The only reason I hold out hope is because the CDROM program included with
- AmiCDROM *can* access my ReNO CD-ROM drive, reading the main directory,
- sectors, returning ID info, etc..
-
- It seems to me that if all this info can be retrieved without a problem, a
- file system that works with the RocHard might also exist, or at least be
- possible.
-
- I would consider switching to another HD/memory subsystem, but since I have
- a IDE HD, that would require investing in another hard drive if I went with
- a SCSI-only system such as a GVP or Supra XP, and in some cases (the Supra
- XP or an ICD Trifecta), new memory (ZIPs vs. the SIMMs my Roctec has). Since
- I am planning on upgrading to an A1200 as soon as possible, this does not
- seem to make economic sense.
